FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Global Distribution Cooperation between Millennium & Copthorne Hotels & Resorts and TravelSky
10 August 2011 (Beijing): Millennium & Copthorne Hotels & Resorts (M&C) signed the global distribution cooperation with TravelSky on 5 August 2011. By using their “Hotel Distribution System”, Millennium & Copthorne Hotels & Resorts can promote and distribute its five key brands hotel worldwide, namely Grand Millennium, Millennium, Copthorne, Kingsgate and Studio M Hotel. TravelSky is the leading information and business provider for travel industry in China. Its customers consist of domestics and international airlines companies, over 10,000 local and 60,000 international hotels and more than 8,000 travel agencies. Since last August, all six M&C hotels in China have started using TravelSky’s “Hotel Distribution System”. All of them received favourable results from this “NEW” booking channel. As part of the expansion plan on the distribution network in China, the extension of this cooperation will therefore include our hotels and resorts in North America, UK/Europe, Asia Pacific and Middle East these four regions first and later to New Zealand. “Travel and Tourism in China is taking off” and China is expected to surpass Japan as the world's second largest travel and tourism market by 2013. In addition, travel forecast within China is expected to grow by 16% per year with an estimated worth of RMB3.9 trillion by 2020. Meanwhile, the country's outbound travel market is also expected to grow triple the size of Japan's. Furthermore, China Tourism Academy (CTA) has also forecasted, “Chinese international travellers will spend a record of US$55 billion this year.” To support, as reported by Chinese state news agency, Xinhua, “the CTA claims the Chinese outbound market is expected to increase by 13% in 2011 together with the tourism expenditure increasing 15% as compared to the US$48 billion spent overseas by Chinese travellers in 2010 in the same timeframe. M&C is the hotel arm of Singapore property giant, City Developments Limited.
